1957

In 1957, Geelong Gallery held an exhibition of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander art that included an array of paintings and decorative arts by First Nations artists such as Albert Namatjira, three of his sons, Enos, Ewald and Oscar, Richard Moketarinja, Gloria Moketarinja, Walter Ebatarinja, and Benjamin Landara among others.

Among the acquisitions in 1957 were two works by English-born Australian artist Charles Conder: For dear Orphen and Babies and swans through archway. Conder was a key figure within the Heidelberg School, an Australian Impressionist art movement that emerged during the late 19th century.
