1968

Geelong Gallery was still trying to raise an extra $10,000 needed for proposed building extensions in 1968, opting to find Australian sponsors for the project after American-owned companies like Ford Motor Company preferred to focus on organisations in the US.

The Geelong print prize had two winners this year: Australian artists Margaret A Elliott and Andrea Num for their works A cloud is a pillow (or description of my pillow) and Being reanimated. The prize was judged by the late Dr Ursula Hoff, the pioneering curator of prints and drawings at National Gallery of Victoria, who by 1968 was its Deputy Director.
