In 1972 Geelong Gallery acquired Wild flowers by Australian botanical artist Daisy Wood. Wood was born in Wallington in 1894, when the area was still bushland. She recalls spending time roaming the bush with her parents and sister, forging her love for nature at an early age.

Wood went on to become a well-known botanical and landscape artist, drawing intricate and detailed works of the Australian landscape and native and non-native flowers. Wild flowers is a testament to her skill and highlights the beauty of her botanical works.
