1975

In 1975 Katrina Rumley completed her term as Director and was succeeded by Margaret Rich, who served as Director until 1980.

Cockatoos by Australian artist Sally Robinson was acquired in this year. Robinson is well-known for her portraiture, design, painting, and printmaking. Cockatoos typifies Robinson’s expertise with the screen print technique, and her representation of Australian fauna and flora, and her depiction of landscapes.

Robinson has always been interested in photography, however she has said that she found it ‘difficult to say all that was necessary about a scene in a single photograph, [so] screenprinting appealed as it [allowed] the production of an image that is photographically based but with the option of severe manipulation.’
