2005

In 2005, Dr Robert Edwards AO and Catherine Edwards gifted Geelong Gallery 124 pieces of breathtakingly fine,  translucent Belleek porcelain giving the collection an outstanding holding of this widely collected Irish manufactory’s output.

2005 also saw our Senior Curator, Lisa Sullivan, join the Geelong Gallery team. Sixteen years later Lisa has been responsible for delivering ground-breaking exhibitions such as RONE in Geelong and Frederick McCubbin—Whisperings in wattle boughs

Untitled by Pintupi artist Katarra Nampitjinpa joined the collection in 2005. Nampitjinpa was born on Ulkapa country and spent time at Ikuntji (also known as Haasts Bluff), a community well known as the hometown of many First Nations artists including Makinti Napanangka, Daisy Jugadai Napaltjarri and Bill Whiskey Tjapaltjarri.
