2018

In 2018 Geelong Gallery received notification of a bequest from the Estate of John Norman Mann, a local resident and member of Geelong Gallery along with his wife Bette.

The bequest provided funds for the acquisition of works by contemporary Indigenous and non-Indigenous Australian artists. Among the initial acquisitions were works by Simone Slee, Adam Pyett and Brett Colquhoun.

In the following year, the bequest funds were directed to the acquisition of two works by Dhuruputjpi artist Ms Wirrpanda, Gipipi and Gipipi/Warrapal/Yananu.

The 1874 Geelong Gold cup was also acquired for the permanent collection, adding to Geelong Gallery’s holdings of metalwork by pre-eminent Geelong-based silversmith Edward Fischer.
