1908
In 1908, Geelong-born artist Arthur Streeton painted Santa Maria della Salute while on honeymoon in Venice, Italy.
Streeton’s work depicts the city’s famous domed basilica of Santa Maria della Salute, located on a narrow strip of land where the Grand Canal meets the Bacino di San Marco.
Arthur Streeton was born in 1867 in Mount Duneed, south-west of Geelong. There is a memorial commemorating Streeton's life on the corner of the Princes Highway and Ervin’s Rd, Mount Moriac.
