1934
In 1934, the Trustees of the late Charlotte Louisa Turnbull Hitchcock’s (née Royce, Mayor Howard Hitchcock’s wife) estate, presented Geelong Gallery with a number of collectable spoons.
Also known as Louie, Hitchcock collected these spoons from all over the world, including places such as Switzerland, Sweden, Egypt, Gibraltar, and Sri Lanka.
Altogether, the collection consists of roughly 130 spoons. Pictured is just a small handful of these items. The craftsmanship on these spoons is inventive and impressive.
