1937
The H F Richardson Memorial Gallery was officially opened on 14 April 1937. The Gallery’s namesake, Horace Frank Richardson, was a local businessman and politician who served as Mayor of Geelong when the Geelong Art Gallery Association was established.
Richardson is partly to thank for Geelong Gallery’s establishment, as he approved the Geelong Art Gallery Association’s creation and supported Geelong Gallery’s efforts over the years. Richardson passed away in 1935 at his home ‘Kardinia’.
