1952
In 1952, the annual J H McPhillimy and F E Richardson prizes were deferred so Geelong Gallery could focus their attention on the bi-annual Exhibition of Arts and Crafts by the Secondary Schools of Geelong and District.
Geelong Gallery only held one other exhibition in 1952, a collection of twenty Australian paintings loaned by the National gallery of Victoria. Instead of rearranging the existing works on the walls, the loaned works were hung on folding screens installed in the H P Douglass Gallery.
The Geelong Symphony Orchestra and Madrigal Choir returned for a performance surrounded by the Australian works, creating an immersive atmosphere for the guests.
1952 was also the year that Wolfgang Sievers photographed Grinding door pattern, Ford Motor Company, Geelong, Victoria inside the Ford Motor Company in Corio.
