Eric Thake’s Christmas cards are among the most charming and inventive works of his career. Created over forty years, they reveal his playful sense of humour, fascination with everyday subjects, and talent for finding the extraordinary in the ordinary.

Drawing on Geelong Gallery’s significant collection of Thake’s Christmas cards, exhibition co-curator Kirsty Grant explores the stories behind these much-loved designs, discussing the way in which an annual tradition became an important and much-loved part of the artist’s creative practice. Discover the imagination, creativity and craftsmanship of Thake’s Christmas cards that continue to delight audiences today.
