Explore Eric Thake’s relationship with Geelong in this special floortalk led by Assistant Director Curatorial, Lisa Sullivan. From his solo exhibition, Pubs and Bars (1976), at Geelong Gallery to the Gallery’s acquisition of his extensive Christmas card suite in 1986 and the celebrated painting Brasilia at Corio (1976). This talk will trace the artist’s connections to Geelong and examine how local collectors, supporters and the Gallery itself have contributed to preserving and championing his work. Gain a deeper appreciation of the stories, relationships and artworks that continue to strengthen Thake’s place within Geelong’s cultural history.
